PRESENTS FOR PATIENTS® was founded in 1984 by William V. Day, president of St. Barnabas Health System. His goal was to help patients cope with the loneliness they often feel during the holidays by providing them with a gift and visitor. His secondary goal was to provide members of the public with an opportunity to visit their local nursing homes to witness the acts of goodwill and compassion that occur every day.
PRESENTS FOR PATIENTS® is one of the most unique and established charitable community outreach programs in the Pittsburgh region. Volunteers support the program by donating time, gifts and visits to nursing home and assisted living patients in southwestern Pennsylvania.
Because of COVID restrictions, families and friends cannot visit loved ones in skilled and living assistance facilities this Christmas.
Facilities have strict no visitor guidelines in place.
